Moatsiders visit the Christopher Russell Stadium on Saturday

Phoenix face a visit from Jamie DeCruz’s Merstham FC on Saturday as the Sports look to keep their survival hopes alive with a positive result on Saturday.

The match will be the first of three crucial matches in a week for Phoenix with a visit of Erith Town on Tuesday night and a trip to Steyning Town to follow.

Fresh from a brilliant away win at Herne Bay, Darren Anslow’s men don’t have any new injury concerns with goalkeeper Max Huxter back in training. Phoenix will once again be without Isaac Thompson, who is serving the final game of a three-match suspension. Thompson will be back and available for selection for the visit of Erith.

Merstham are fifth in the table and will be desperate for a win to help cement their play-off position. The Moatsiders have won four of their last five league games with their only defeat coming at home to Broadbridge Heath at the start of February. They were beaten 5-1 on Tuesday night by Dorking in the quarter-final of the Surrey Senior Cup.

Their star man so far this season has been Korrey Henry who has scored 12 goals for Merstham with Aidan Brown, Charlie Greenwood, Aaron Jenkins and Sam King all finding the net eight times each.

Phoenix fell to a 5-0 defeat to Merstham in the reverse fixtures earlier in the season but it’s been all change for Phoenix with only five of the players who featured in the matchday squad that day still at Phoenix.

There’s plenty happening at The Christopher Russell Stadium on Saturday, including Crystal Palce vs. Millwall on the big screen pre-match, a book swap for young fans, and a pizza van courtesy of Freewheelin’ Pizza.
