MATCH PREVIEW: Phoenix vs Deal Town

Writer's picture: Phoenix Sports Media Phoenix Sports Media

A big match for Phoenix as they look to built on Margate performance

Phoenix face a visit from eighth-placed Deal Town on Saturday, 1 February, and will be hoping to build on their excellent point away at Margate last-time out.

Darren Anslow’s men have had a week to recover from their trip to Hartsdown Park after Tuesday night’s local derby with Erith Town was postponed.

The club successfully appealed the red card Bradley Pritchard received against Margate so the midfielder is again available for selection. Jack Turner’s loan has been extended for another month and the defender has recovered from the knock he received against Margate. Max Huxter is still out so Sam Freeman is likely to continue in goal. Richard Pingling is available after missing out against Deal.

Deal have had a rocky start to 2025 with three consecutive defeats to Ramsgate, Burgess Hill, and Three Bridges seeing them drop down the table. They ended January on a high with a 3-1 win over Sevenoaks Town last time out.

Tom Chapman has been Deal’s standout player, scoring 16 goals, while his brother Ben has found the net seven times. Ife Oni has also impressed with nine goals.

With 13 games remaining in Deal’s season, they are just four points off the play-offs.

There is plenty going on at The Christopher Russell Stadium on Saturday with a face painter for young fans and a pizza van courtesy of Freewhelin’ Pizza.
