Phoenix attempt to bounce back on the Kent Coast on Saturday

Phoenix make another trip to the Kent Coast on Saturday as they face a Herne Bay side looking to pull away from the relegation zone.
The Bay will be managed by James Collins for the first time following Steve Lovell’s departure last month. Collins hasn’t been out of work for long having only left Bowers & Pitsea on Christmas Eve.
Phoenix boss, Darren Anslow, will be without Isaac Thompson, who is serving the second game of a three-match suspension after picking up a red card against Ramsgate a fortnight ago. Jamarie Brissett is fit again after picking up a knock against Littlehampton last Saturday. Marcel Brown and Max Huxter remain unavailable.
Every game against bottom half opposition now feels crucial for Phoenix who need to bounce back from defeat at home to Littlehampton. A win in the early kick-off for Phoenix would take them up to 19th and three points from safety at least temporarily.
However, victory at the Crest Stadium will be far from easy. Six of Herne Bay’s eight wins this season have come at home and they’re unbeaten in their last three games in CT6.
Despite their league position (17th) Herne Bay have deadly goalscorers in Michael Salako and Kayne Haysman who have found the net 28 times between them so far this season. Phoenix will need to stop Salako in particular who has been in good form of late.
Phoenix fell to a 3-1 defeat to Herne Bay in the reverse fixtures earlier in the season with Marcus Elliott the goalscorer for the hosts. But it’s a different Phoenix side with only five players from that day likely be in the Phoenix travelling squad.
Supporters are reminded that the match will be kicking-off at 13:30 due to Herne Bay’s ongoing floodlight issues and tickets are available from the turnstile by cash or card.
